The Christian Adventure Fails

Anon wrote this about the Crusades: "...what should have been a great Christian adventure proved to be a story of greed and ambition...". How can war, death and suffering be glorified as "adventure". How can war be justified on the basis that it is "holy"? Isn't "holy war" an oxymoron anyway? Since I am neither Christian nor Muslim it is possible for me to see this conflict as it really was: a primitive, brutal and senseless clash of cultures. Incredibly, the war goes on!
