Can't Find Your Soul?

Apparently the word "soul" can mean whatever you want it to. If you check "soul" on Wikipedia, the closer you look at this subject the more complicated and confused it becomes. Every religion has a different belief about the soul, every philosopher a different philosophy. So is the immortal soul nothing more than wishful thinking?
