Special Theory of Relativity

Einstein's special theory of relativity, published in 1905, dismissed the ubiquitous aether in favour of 4-dimensional space. At first his theory was not generally accepted. It is difficult to understand and changes the way we think about space and time intervals. Everything predicted by Einstein's theory has since been tested and shown to be correct.
