Just Another Occultist Fantasy

Maurice Magre's book The Key to Hidden Records was published in 1935. At the time it was a popular belief that Venus was a beautiful Earth-like planet inhabited by demigods. Some people claimed to have been in contact with the Venusians, and a few even paid a visit (eg George Adamski). However, probes sent to Venus in the 1960's/70's revealed it is hostile to life. The entire planet is covered by a cloud layer of sulphuric acid, it has an atmosphere of mostly carbon dioxide, the atmospheric pressure is 90 times that of Earth's and the surface temperature is almost 500°C. So it seems Magre, his occultist friends, Adamski, and probably Charroux too, were all caught up in the same fantasy.
