Esotericism is Mumbo Jumbo

The premise of Pauwels & Bergier's The Morning of the Magicians may be summed up with this quote: "It may be that what we call esotericism, the keystone of secret societies and religions, is a remnant, which we find very difficult to understand or deal with, of a very ancient branch of knowledge, of a technical nature, relating to both mind and matter." I don't agree! Esotericism is elitism. It is mostly obscure mumbo jumbo, designed to give a small group of initiates power over an uninitiated majority.
