The Myth of Ascendancy

Some people think there is a transcendental plan for the evolution of Homo sapiens and that the only direction is forward. But there is no plan and there are no guarantees. That's not how evolution works. Spencer Wells explains in his latest book Pandora's Seed: Unforeseen Cost of Civilization that geneticists have discovered numerous mutations to the human genome that have occurred since the time humans were nomadic hunter-gatherers. So humans really are still evolving. Unfortunately the changes are not all good!
