Infinite Divisibility Pondered

For thousands of years philosophers have pondered the infinite divisibility of matter, space and time. Philosophy has not yet answered these questions, and probably never will. But physics can tell us that an atom cannot be cut in half and is not infinitely divisible. Certainly infinite divisibility has not been demonstrated. The atom does have a structure. Credit goes to JJ Thompson for discovering the electron in 1897, although the idea that atoms might be composed of smaller "particles" had been around since at least 1815.
