The Nature of Consciousness

What is the nature of consciousness? Scientists and philosophers can't seem to agree. But it is clear that consciousness is a consequence of sentience, that sentience is a consequence of life, and that life is a consequence of the physical universe. Therefore, it must follow that human consciousness is a product of the unconscious universe.
