Science & Consciousness

Knowing full well that consciousness has always been a taboo subject for scientists, Francis Crick writes in the preface of The Astonishing Hypothesis that "...some philosophers are under the delusion they have already solved the mystery, but to me their explanations do not have the ring of scientific truth." He goes on to say that now is the "...time to start the experimental* study of consciousness in a serious and deliberate way". *Crick's italics, not mine.
