Time Can't Slow Down

If time doesn't exist then it can't slow down. Using a clock to explain time dilation creates the wrong impression because, for most people, "clock" and "time" are synonymous. According to the special theory of relativity, any mechanism will slow down eg pendulum, heartbeat, atomic clock. In the case of an atomic clock this would mean that travelling at high speed retards the frequency of the caesium oscillator.
